The Land

This series of paintings has started with my search for the inner landscape and the peacefulness and depth of our natural habitat. It was at this time that I moved to Bowen Island and found that this was a confirmation of my need to paint this series. Bowen Island is all about the landscape and peacefulness for me. "The Land" series is my expression of the landscape in a more realistic style. There is a strong indication of the landscape through the division of the picture plane and the telling of a story. Each painting captures the mood or tone of a moment in time set within the landscape. I still include the use of my photographs and there is a seamless transition between the photo and the paint.
